Community Outreach Coordinator

Role Description:

This is a full-time role for a Community Outreach Coordinator at Rainbow Routes Association. The role will have the primary responsibility of connecting within our local community and the further reaching trail network goals across Ontario and Nationally with the Trans Canada Trail. The role will focus on:

1)    Helping host and support in all community based events

2)    Communicate to our trail users what is happening and when to help encourage their involvment in sustainability

An understanding of the current trails within Sudbury Ontario and the Rainbow Routes net work is considered an asset. The role is located in Sudbury, ON, at our local office in Minnow Lake Place, 1127 Bancroft Drive.

Skills

  • Experience with social media

    • Facebook and Instagram use required

    • Linktree experince considered an asset

  •         Strong technology and communication skills,

  •         Organizational skills and time management skills,

  •         Problem solving skills,

  •        Fundraising experience essential,

  •         Digital marketing and content management systems (Mailchimp and Canva)

  •         French communication skills would be considered an asset

Qualifications

        Experience in community outreach, and event planning

        Strong interpersonal and communication skills,

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment,

        Excellent time management and organizational skills,

        Experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred,

        College diploma or degrees  related to outdoor education, communications, business or marketing.

Salary

        $18 - $20 per hour.

Hours

        35 hours per week over a 12 month contract

Graphic Designer, Program Planner and Trail Liasion details:

Role Descriptions:

The above roles will be 6 to 12 week contracts this summer, starting in early to late spring, 2025, with the potential to begin in July as well. The roles will be 35 hours per week and comprise of some work inside at Minnow Lake Place, with some outside on the trail network here in Sudbury.

The Graphic Designer will be expected to help in layout work of trail promotional materials, guides and support the Trail Mapping Lead within Rainbow Routes branding.

The Program Planner will work directly with our volunteers and organize hike programs and additional events for the summer season ahead. They will be expected to support the Volunteer Coordinator and take a strong lead in the upcoming 8th Annual Sudbury Camino held in mid August.

The Trail Liasion is someone who loves working in the outdoors and nature. They will aid the Trail Mapping lead in measuring and updating all trail information into the database. Working with partners in the community who care for the trails and volunteers who will aid in data collection will be a key activity. Measuring the trail counters with the Volunteer Coordinator and planning on any new locations for monitoring trail use will be within this roles duties.

  • Knowledge of signage and wayfinding standards,

  • Collection and analyzing of trail use data,

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills,

  • GIS or ArcGIS Pro experience,

  • Map reading or design considered an essential skill,

  • A degree in geography, cartography or desgin considered desireable

Each of the three roles of Graphic Designer, Program Planner and Trail Liasion will be compensated as follows:

  • $17.20 per hour
