We are currently hiring for two roles. Please see the details for a Trail Mapping Lead & a Volunteer Coordinator.
Trail Mapping Lead
Role Description:
This is a full-time role for a Trail Mapping Lead at Rainbow Routes Association. The Trail Mapping Lead will have two primarily responsibilities that include updating:
1) The physical print Rainbow Routes trail network map,
2) An online mapping system (e.g. Trailforks, Alltrails. OTC trail app, etc.) to ensure it is accurate and contains all the relevant trails in Sudbury.
Completing this work will require visiting different trails across the city to ensure they are accurately mapped and categorized, working with trail partners and the community to develop an accurate georeferenced trail asset database.
Utilizing this information to update the Rainbow Routes website, maps and selected trail app. Printing and promotion of the physical trail network map will be completed within the role.
An understanding of the current trails within Sudbury Ontario and the Rainbow Routes net work is required. The role is located in Sudbury, ON, but some hybrid work is acceptable.
Skills
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
GPS mapping and tracking
Working in ArcGIS Pro
Comfortable with mobile technology and use of popular trail apps (e.g. Trail forks, All Trails)
Strong technology and communication skills,
Organizational skills and project management skills,
Problem solving skills,
Leadership skills,
Time management skills,
Digital marketing and content management systems
French communication skills would be considered an asset.
Qualifications
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Office, Adobe and Google Suite,
Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment,
Excellent time management and organizational skills,
Experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred,
College diploma or degrees related to mapping technology, engineering, outdoor education design, communications, software or marketing.
Salary
$20-$22 per hour.
Hours
35 hours per week over 8 months.

Volunteer Coordinator
Role Description:
This is a part-time role, working directly with the Trail Mapping Lead at Rainbow Routes Association. The Volunteer Coordinator will have two primarily responsibilities that include:
1) Supporting the work and development of the new map
2) Recruiting additional volunteers to support in the trail data collection in partnership with the Trail Mapping Lead.
