Sudbury Inclusive Trail Trekkers

Rainbow Routes Association and L’Arche Sudbury Inc. is offering our accessibility walk, Inclusive Trail Trekker’s going into 2025!

Join us for a chance to listen to the Sounds of Winter. Wear you mitts and toque, but remember to listen. With the snow on the ground, things sound different in nature. So come and take a listen and find out what you can hear when you are on the trail in the snowy season.

Hike details

When: Thursday, January 16th, 2025 from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Meeting place: 506 Elizabeth Street, Bell Park
Trail: Bell Park Boardwalk

Terrain: Some minor inclines, but smooth trail, snow cleared*
Length: 1-1.5 km
Dress:  Dress for the weather. Winter footwear with good grips and snowshoes weather permitting.
Duration: 1 - 1.5 hours

*If there is a great deal of snow the day of the hike, and the trail is not cleared, we we will reschedule to Friday, January 24, 2025 as our alternative date, to ensure accessibility on the path. We will provide as much notice as possible if the hike needs to be reschedule.

ABOUT THE HIKE PROGRAM

Join the Inclusive Trail Trekkers, a hike series led by the Rainbow Routes Association and L' Arche Sudbury Inc. Our hikes aim to create inclusive experiences on local trails and walkways, promoting accessible outdoor recreation opportunities.

Our series takes us back to Bell Park, featuring stunning winter views of Ramsey Lake in the heart of Sudbury. Participants will enjoy panoramic views while on this barrier free trail.

Parking: Elizabeth Street entrance to Bell Park, off of John Street, via Paris Street.


GOVA transit route #1S at 12:30 PM from the Downtown Terminal, getting off at the John St. stop, which arrives at 12:34 PM. Continue down John St., then take an immediate right onto Elizabeth St. Follow Elizabeth down to Bell Park.

Note: GOVA fare is $4.00. Exact change or a bus pass is required.

Our hikes will generally accommodate anyone capable of walking on outdoor trails as per the above details. You'll find organizers wearing RRA dark blue vests at the event.
